Dominica: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has shared an important update on the Vieille Case Housing Project, announcing that 21 modern, hurricane-resilient homes in the Vieille Case community will soon be ready to accommodate families.
This announcement was shared by Minister of Housing, Melissa Poponne Skerrit on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, who revealed that the homes are in their final stages of completion.
The Vieille Case Housing Project is part of the Dominica's ongoing national initiative to build back stronger homes across different communities in the country, following the devastation of past hurricanes. The constructed homes have been designed to withstand Category 5 hurricanes and seismic activity.
Melissa Poponne Skerrit shared this milestone on her official Facebook page, updating the general public with picture and video highlights of the site and the progress achieved. She reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to bringing safer and stronger housing for local families in Dominica.
