Addison James won the NACAC U23 men's javelin title with a record 72.02m throw in Mexico, leading Dominica's medal success at the regional championships.
Dominica’s Athlete, Addison James, has once again delivered an outstanding performance for the country as he won Gold in the Men’s Under-23 Javelin Throw at the 2026 NACAC U18/U23 Championship in Mexico. The champion stroke Gold with a powerful throw 72.02 metres.
Addison James was officially presented with the gold medal by the President of the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC), Mike Sands, who congratulated him for his exceptional performance.
The outstanding athlete competed against some of the best young athletes across North America, Central America and the Caribbean, including LeBron James (69.24m) and Dorian Charles (62.70m) who represented Trinidad and Tobago and secured the second and third places.
Following his performance, the Dominica Athletics Association (DAA) took to Facebook to share with the citizens of this milestone, congratulating the young athlete for representing the country and noting that his performance at the 2026 NACAC U18/U23 Championship and other tournaments are an inspiration to the future generations.
“Addison continues his winning streak showcasing his dedication, talent, and determination on the regional stage, bringing home another major achievement for Dominican athletics. Congratulations, Addison, on this remarkable accomplishment. Your success continues to inspire the next generation of athletes across the Nature Isle,” shared the Athletics Association.
The Government of Dominica has also celebrated this victory and extended its congratulations to Addison James for representing the country with pride and excellence.

The DAA has also shared the other athletes’ performance so far, with Kerelle Etienne finishing eighth in the Women’s U23 100m Final, crossing the line in 11.67 seconds; and Keyoni Esprit finishing sixth in the U18 Boys 100m Preliminary Round with a time of 11.28 seconds.
