Agriculture Minister meets NAYA executive to strengthen support for young farmers, boost collaboration, and enhance food security in Dominica.
Dominica: The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy has shared that it convened a strategic check-in meeting with National Association of Youth in Agriculture (NAYA) as part of its greater efforts to strengthen partnership and to reinforce institutional support to the young farmers in the country.
The meeting took place on Monday, June 8, and was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy, Roland Royer who met with the executive members of National Association of Youth in Agriculture, including the President, Earl White Jr; the Vice President, Neon Charles; and the Projects Coordinator, Tiffany Marcelle.
Moreover, the check-in meeting was also attended by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy, Ryan Anslem.
According to the information provided by the Ministry, discussions were centred on the ongoing initiatives being implemented to support the youth farmers in Dominica, different ways to strengthen collaboration and coordination between the Agricultural Ministry and Naya, as well as identifying opportunities to better empower the youth in agriculture.
The partners also spoke about sector resilience and different ways they can work towards collective food and nutrition security.
Together, the Ministry and NAYA are working to strengthen food and nutrition security, sustain livelihoods, and create a more resilient agricultural sector for Dominica, shared the Ministry.
The Agriculture Ministry shared picture highlights of this engagement on Facebook, describing it as “productive.”
Reaffirming its commitment to the farmers, the Ministry wrote, “The Ministry remains committed to supporting the next generation of farmers as we build a stronger and more sustainable future for all.”
This initiative was well received by the citizens of Dominica, who praised the two partners for the work they put in advancing the sector for the youth in the country.
