The first phase of Dominica’s Bath Estate-Silver Lake Road project is complete, with EC$23.7 million earmarked for the long-awaited Bath Estate Bridge.
Dominica: The Parliamentary Representative for Roseau South, Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite, has shared an important update on the Bath Estate to Silver Lake Road alignment project, announcing that the first phase of the transformational project is officially complete. Additionally, Hypolite announced that the Government of Dominica is prioritizing plans to address the long-awaited rehabilitation of the Bath Estate bridge.
According to the information provided by the Parliamentary Representative during a town hall meeting at Bath Estate on Monday, August 24, 2026, the first phase of the road alignment project was valued of EC$6.6 million with funding secured from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
We have just completed the first phase of the Bath Estate to Silver Lake Road alignment project at a cost of EC 6.6 million dollars, and we engaged several local persons on that project and the funds were finally drawn down from the CDB, shared the Roseau South Representative.
Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite reported that the first phase involved the construction of the retaining wall and the second phase will involve extending the wall to the main road and installing the guardrails and sidewalks, which will make the area more resilient.
She went on to urge the residents to take note of the ongoing progress in the community, noting that the EC$6.6 million project is also contributing to the local economy, with all materials being purchased locally.
Moreover, in her address, Hypolite also announced that designs and estimates for the long-awaited Bath Estate Bridge have been completed. She noted that the project will cost a total of EC$23.7 million, with the permanent bridge expected to cost EC$20.4 million and the retaining wall EC$3.2 million.
But I just want to say to the people of Elmshall that the bridge is very much on the cards. We have not forgotten you, she declared.
The Parliamentary Representative has assured the residents that their concerns have not been forgotten and that the Government remains committed to addressing them.
