A five-week rehabilitation project has begun at Dominica’s Botanic Gardens, with washroom fence upgrades to improve safety for visitors and staff.
Dominica: The Ministry of Environment, Rural Modernisation, Kalinago Upliftment and Constituency Empowerment has announced that rehabilitation works have officially commenced at the Botanic Gardens, with the works expected to continue for a period of five weeks.
On Monday, August 17, 2026, the Ministry of Environment issued a public service announcement to inform the citizens of the ongoing rehabilitation works being carried out on the washroom fence at the Gardens. According to the information provided by the Ministry, the washroom fence began being rehabilitated last week Wednesday, August 12, 2026, and will greatly improve the safety and security for both the visitors and staff.
The public notice also serves as a safety warning, with visitors to the Botanic Gardens being asked to be cautious around the construction area.
Visitors are kindly asked to exercise caution around the work area and follow any safety directions provided,” wrote the Ministry.
Moreover, the Ministry of Environment has also extended its gratitude to NAO for its continued support and the public for their understanding as works progress in the area.

Dominica's Forestry, Wildlife and Parks Division has shared this public service announcement on its official Facebook page, where it has reiterated the importance of the project in ensuring safety and has thanked the citizens for their cooperation during the five-week rehabilitation period.
On the post, the Wildlife Parks Division wrote, “Reinforcement of the washroom fence is underway to improve safety and security for visitors and staff. Thank you for your cooperation and support as we continue to improve the Gardens.”
