Creole in the Streets Expo Celebrates 10 Years in Dominica | Dominica News

Dominica’s National Development Foundation celebrates 10 years of Creole in the Streets Expo, supporting small businesses and local culture.

The National Development Foundation of Dominica (NDFD) is celebrating the 10th annual Creole in the Streets Expo, paying its tribute to the cultural heritage and supporting small businesses.

Hosted as a premier open - air trade show, it transforms Great Marlborough Street in Roseau into a vibrant hub of culture, innovation and trade. Organized around Independence season , the event bridges the gap between MSME’s (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise) and the potential customers. Businessmen and traders organize their stalls showcasing and promoting their businesses and inducing sales from the visitors. These flagship stalls display everything from local food stalls to clothing merchants to skincare brands to artifact traders to tourism and travel agencies; anything a person could imagine and think of buying is available during Creole.

The Creole in the Streets - trade expo is an effort and initiative by the National Development Foundation of Dominica to give a platform to the micro, small and medium businesses to help the businesses grow and actively contribute to the economy of the country. Keeping it in mind, the trade expo is organized for 12 hours which is 8:00 am to 8:00 pm so that businessmen get to engage in large scale direct to consumer high volume sales, understand the markets better, understand consumer psychology and exactly what’s working and what not.

To further initiate confidence in these small businessmen, the NDFD has established an on site consultation procedure in which businessmen can arrive at the specific consulting hubs established by the foundation for business consulting, advice and future guidance if required.

The event also focuses on boosting and promoting sustainability and innovation - NDFD’s Green Innovations Summit. All the people participating in the summit develop eco-friendly products after which they interact with the public where they inform the locals about their innovations and its uses and its benefits for both- mankind and natural habitats.
