DCA Sunday Road Race: Essiel Green Dominates Elite Division | Dominica News

Essiel Green wins DCA Sunday road race in Dominica, while Ronald Charles tops the Master’s division in a thrilling cycling showdown.

Dominica: The Dominica Cycling Association held a road race on Sunday, May 17, 2026, where the nation's top cyclists pushed their limits to secure vital season points. Cyclist Essiel Green was announced the winner of the race, securing overall first place with a finishing time of 2 hours, 33 minutes and 37 seconds in the elite group, while Ronald Charles finished 2nd in 2 hours, 35 minutes, and 40 seconds for the master’s group.  

The road race on Sunday saw the island's elite riders deliver high-speed performances across the designated circuit. In the elite division, Green, who finished second in last year’s National Cycling Championship, won first place in Sunday’s race, showing a strong start, with hopes of carrying on the momentum to eventually win the 2026 season.  

Rider Cobensky Fils-Aime crossed the finish line 12 minutes later with a time of 2 hours, 47 minutes, and 31 seconds, securing the runner-up spot in the elite category. According to the information provided, Green’s main rivals, Dominica’s reigning National Cycling Champion Kohath Baron and elite competitive cyclist, Giteson Marius, did not finish Sunday’s race.  

In a different category, the Master’s Division, Ronald Charles was seen finishing first with a time of 2 hours, 35 minutes, and 40 seconds, while Desmond Posper, who finished second, trailed closely behind with a time of 2 hours 49 minutes and 52 seconds. 

The overall winners of the race were announced to be Essiel Green in first place and Ronald Charles in second place.  

The Dominica Cycling Association has congratulated the winners on their victories, encouraging them to remain consistent throughout the season. Fans have also taken to the comment section on Facebook to extend their congratulatory messages to the two winners.  

The official opening of the 2026 National Cycling Season took place on the Sunday of April 12, 2026, with a road race from Ma Boyd’s Bar on the Woodbridge Bay Port to Canefield.
