Dennick Luke finished fourth in the men's 400m hurdles final at the Pan American Championships after setting a meet record in the preliminary rounds.
Dominica: Multi-discipline track athlete Dennick Luke delivered an impressive performance as he secured a strong 4th place finish, with a time of 49.21 seconds, in the men’s 400m Hurdles finals at the Pan American Senior Championships which took place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Medellín, Colombia.
The 2026 Pan American competition took place from June 26 to June 28 and brought together over 400 elite athletes from 29 nations.
During the men’s 400mH, Dennick Luke competed against some of the strongest athletes in his field and showed resilience and determination. Clocking 49.21, Luke crossed the finish line behind first-place finisher Yeral Núñez Mercedes of the Dominican Republic (48.20), Costa Rica's Gerald David Drummond Hernández, who placed second in 48.76 seconds, and Francisco Guilherme dos Reis Viana from Brazil who finished third in 48.96 seconds.
The Dominica Athletics Association (DAA) shared Luke’s achievement on social media, where it also highlighted two of the athlete’s other accomplishments during the Senior Championship in Medellin.

The Association announced that Luke set a new meet record during the preliminary rounds and also secured the fastest overall qualifying time going into the finals.
