Ashma McDougall will officially launch her Roseau North by-election campaign on June 28 alongside Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and senior DLP leaders.
Dominica: The Dominica Labour Party (DLP) has announced that it will launch its electoral campaign for the upcoming Roseau North constituency by-election this Sunday, June 28, 2026. Scheduled to take place at Lindo Park in Goodwill, the campaign will lift off at 6 p.m., where businesswoman, economist and educator, Ashma C. McDougall will be formally introduced as DLP’s newly ratified candidate.
Sunday’s political rally is expected to draw major support and attendance from senior political leaders, including Dominica’s Prime Minister, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit; Ian Douglas, the Ambassador to Cuba; and Roseau’s Parliamentary Representative and Minister of Housing, Melissa Poponne-Skerrit. Moreover, Parliamentary Representative for the Cottage Constituency, Roland Royer; Gretta Roberts of Morne Jaune/Riviere Cyrique; and Denise Charles of Soufriere will also be present.

According to the DLP, these leaders and many more are “all standing with the candidate who will get the job done.” It has further invited the citizens to show up at the official launching event on Sunday.
Taking to Facebook to share the campaign poster, the Labour Party wrote, “The campaign begins THIS SUNDAY and we need YOU there. Join Ashma McDougall and the entire Labour family as we launch the movement that will deliver for Roseau North! Bring your family. Bring your friends. Bring your energy. Let's show Roseau North what Labour strong looks like.”
The Party had unanimously ratified McDougall as its candidate last week following the announcement of Miriam Blanchard’s resignation on June 13, 2026, who left her post due to health reasons.
During her speech at the meet & greet session last week Friday, Ashma C. McDougall had expressed her readiness and willingness to serve the citizens of Roseau North.

I bring to this responsibility, not only a passion for service, but also the energy, the stamina and the determination to walk alongside the people of this Constituency every step of the way. I see a Roseau North where our young people are equipped with the skills, confidence and support needed to transform their ideas into successful businesses and meaningful careers. Our young people, entrepreneurs and families must not be left in the margins of development, declared McDougall.
She went on to assert, “I am ready to work, and I have been working! I am ready to listen, and I have been listening! I am ready to serve, and I have been serving; and with your support, I am ready to write the next chapter in the story of the Roseau North Constituency.”
