Dominica has advanced plans for the Pointe Ronde synthetic athletics track after stakeholders reviewed the master plan and discussed implementation.
Dominica: The Government of Dominica has announced that the plans for the synthetic athletics track at Pointe Ronde are advancing well, sharing that the project’s technical committee recently met with key stakeholders to review the master plan and proposed designs.
The meeting with the stakeholders took place on Monday, June 23, 2026, and is a significant step forward towards the development of the facility. During the engagements, the Government and the stakeholders also discussed the steps that need to be taken for the implementation phase of the Pointe Round Sports Complex Project to officially commence.
Speaking about the project, the Parliamentary Representative of the Portsmouth Constituency, Fenella Wenham Sheppard, noted that the facility’s progress will create job opportunities for the citizens.
“What I believe this will do for us, even in the construction phase, is to have some economic activity happening in the constituency where we have our skilled men and women have their talent and skills put into use.”

In his post, Prime Minister Skerrit explained the importance of the facility in strengthening sports in Dominica as athletes will have access to a “modernised training and competition venue.”
Cozier Frederick, the Minister of Environment, Rural Modernisation, Kalinago Upliftment & Constituency Empowerment, was seen taking to the comment section to reiterate the transformative impact the facility is expected to have on sports development and athletic performance in the country.
