Dominica and Kenya Discuss Stronger Ties… | Dominica News

Dominica and Kenya discussed trade, tourism and closer Africa-Caribbean cooperation during a bilateral meeting at CHOGM 2026 in Antigua and Barbuda.

Dominica: Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Vince Henderson held a bilateral meeting with the Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs from Kenya, Abraham Korir Sing'Oei. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026 in Antigua and Barbuda.

The meeting addressed possibilities of bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade and tourism and strengthening ties between Africa and the Caribbean through closer cooperation between African Union (AU) and Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

During the discussions, Kenya thanked Dominica for supporting its deployment in Haiti. It also reiterated its desire to foster stronger ties with the Caribbean island through Commonwealth ties, Pan-African unity, and South-South cooperation.

“Thanked the Minister for the support extended to Kenya’s deployment to Haiti by his country, and reaffirmed our deep commitment to strengthening Kenya-Dominica relations, rooted in Pan-African solidarity, Commonwealth ties, and South-South cooperation,” said Abraham Korir Sing'Oei via and official post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Kenya also requested Dominica’s support for its candidate, Justice Njoki Ndung’u, for a position at the International Criminal Court (ICC). She attended the meeting alongside Kenya’s Ambassador to Jamaica, Mwenda Karisa.

The engagement provided an opportunity for both countries to discuss areas of shared interest and explore ways to strengthen diplomatic and economic cooperation.

This meeting forms a part of Dominica’s broader diplomatic engagements at the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which brought together various leaders from across the Commonwealth nations.
