Dominica teams have completed their first day at the ECVA Championships, with men recording wins while the women faced early defeats.
Dominica: The Dominica Amateur Volleyball Association (DAVA) has announced that Dominica’s men and women beach volleyball teams are currently in St. Lucia participating in the ECVA Senior Beach Volleyball Championships. The three teams have already competed in two matches, with the men emerging victorious in two games and the girls suffering defeat.
Dominica teams departed the island for St. Lucia on Friday, May 1, 2026, and have already completed their first day, with 5 games played in total.
The results for the first men’s team are promising as Dominica’s Mervin Mingo and Yhan Florent team won their opening day matches, and have advanced to the quarter finals, which will be played on Saturday, May 2. The duo defeated Antigua and Barbuda with set scores of 21-12 and 21-17.
The other men’s team, J’Den Robinson and Tahj Jno Jules, however, had lost their opening match against St. Lucia (15-21, 18-21) but were able to bounce back when they faced Grenada, securing a 3-set victory (12-21, 24-22 and15-10).
Additionally, the Adicia Burton and Joanne Pascal's women's team have lost both of their Friday games, falling 2-1 to Antigua and Barbuda and 2-1 to St. Lucia.
