Dominica Cable Car is on track for completion this year, while upgrades to Mero Beach, Trafalgar Falls, Titou Gorge and Champagne Beach continue.
Dominica: The Ministry of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives has announced that one of the island's landmark tourism projects, the Dominica Cable Car, is on track for completion this year. Other investments are also being made to strengthen and expand Dominica’s tourism sector and attract more visitors.
Minister Denise Charles-Pemberton made this announcement during the 2026 Cruise Stakeholders Symposium, which concluded yesterday, July 29, 2026.
In her address, the Minister shared that after four years of construction, the Cable Car is scheduled for completion, noting that with its completion, the flagship tourism project will bring ample benefits for the country and its citizens.
The Dominica Cable Car set for completion later this year will transform our tourism offering, creating immediate local employment while positioning our destination for long term growth, shared the Minister.
The Dominica Cable Car being developed in the Roseau Valley will be the world’s longest mono cable car system. It will provide tourists with access to Dominica's Boiling Lake by reducing travel time from a six-hour hike to a twenty-minute journey.
This investment from the Government of Dominica is one that is set to transform the cruise tourism industry, with the expectation of dramatically increasing shore excursion participation rates.
Pemberton also provided updates on major development plans for the sector, stating that the Government is preparing to resurface key roads and upgrade some eco-tourism sites such as Mero Beach, Trafalgar Falls and Cold Soufrière.
She went on to share that work is also progressing on other major sites, including Titou Gorge, Emerald Pool and the new Champagne Beach Tourist Reception Facility which had reached 35 per cent completion as of June 2026.
The 2026 Cruise Stakeholders Symposium was held for three days (July 27 –July 29) at Goodwill Parish, where the Minister of Tourism also reported significant growth in Dominica’s cruise tourism sector, announcing that more than 409,000 cruise passengers and approximately 250 cruise vessels arrived during the 2025/2026 season.
