Dominica sends health delegation to China for seminar | Dominica News

Three Dominican healthcare officials are attending a two-week hospital management seminar in China to strengthen healthcare through knowledge exchange.

Dominica: The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services has announced that it has sent a three-member delegation to Beijing, People's Republic of China, which are currently participating in the Seminar on Hospital Management for Belt and Road Countries. The Hospital Management Seminar will run for two weeks and is part of the Health Ministry’s greater efforts to strengthen healthcare in Dominica through international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Earlier this week, the Ministry shared that Dr. Mutiu Olagunju, the Director of Primary Healthcare Services; Mrs. Cornelia Darroux-Edmund, the Nursing Manager; and Ms. Lyndelle Felix, the Hospital Administrative Assistant are representing the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services and the Dominica Hospitals Authority at the event which is being attended by different government officials and healthcare administrators from Belt and Road partner countries.

Together, the participants will get to share knowledge, experiences, and explore different areas for collaboration to build stronger institutional capacity.

According to the information provided by the Ministry, discussions will focus on three main areas, including hospital management, the development of resilient medical service systems, and health governance, with Yang Baozhen, the Chief Adviser for the China Small Business Entrepreneur Association, being one of the distinguished speakers.

The Ministry of Health has explained that “the initiative aims to share China's experiences in healthcare management while supporting participating countries in exploring solutions that best meet their own healthcare needs. It also serves as a practical example of South-South cooperation and the shared commitment to building a global community of health for all.”

Highlights of the ongoing seminar were shared by the Health Ministry on Facebook, who has wished the participant a productive event and has also extended its gratitude to the People’s Republic of China.

“We wish them a productive and successful engagement as they represent our country and thank the Government of the People's Republic of China for its invaluable and continuous support,” shared the Ministry of Health.
