Dominica leads Caribbean tourism with 22% growth, driven by nature and adventure travel, infrastructure investment, and rising global visitor demand.
Dominica: The Nature Isle has been named as the number one strongest performing destination in the Caribbean region, reflecting its tourism demand and visitor growth over the years. The Caribbean Travel Trends 2026 Magazine has spotlighted Dominica for its nature and adventure travel, reporting that the island offers high-value experiences hence, the rise in demand.
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the Ministry of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives, announced that Dominica has been featured in the Caribbean Travel Trends 2026 Magazine as among the region’s strongest-performing destinations. This special feature was unveiled at the CHTA Marketplace 2026 in Antigua and Barbuda.
According to the magazine, the Nature Island has seen the highest growth in overseas tourist arrivals compared to other countries in the Caribbean, recording a 22 percent year-over-year growth.
The feature reads: Dominica stands out as one of the strongest performers, recording +22% year-over-year growth. This increase reflects rising demand for nature- and adventure-focused travel, positioning the destination as an emerging Caribbean market. While volumes remain limited (0.2% share), growth is aligned with a low-density, high-value tourism model, supported by improved air connectivity.
During the event, CEO of Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) and Director of Tourism. Marva Williams, spoke of this growth and stated that it a result of the Government’s investments in infrastructure which are aimed at strengthening Dominica’s tourism industry over the long term.
“Dominica is entering one of the most transformative periods in its tourism development,” said Marva Williams, who further added, “We are seeing strong visitor growth, major investment in national infrastructure, and increasing global interest in destinations centred on authenticity, wellness, sustainability, and meaningful experiences. Dominica is well-positioned within that global shift.”
The CEO further outlined the island’s recent tourism performance, reporting an average increase of 15 percent in total visitor arrivals, climbing from 432,989 visitors in 2024 to 496,635 in 2025. Moreover, stay over arrivals climbed by 19 percent in 2025, reaching 99,846 visitors with the momentum still continuing through the first quarter of 2026.
