Dominica Education Group Joins St Maarten Project | Dominica News

ECAAM and SKOS Catholic Education Foundation will train educators and school leaders to strengthen support for students with special educational needs.

Dominica: A Dominica-based education group is collaborating with St Maarten’s SKOS Catholic Education Foundation on a 2-year project to improve support for students with special educational needs.

Project INSPIRE stands for Inspiring, Nurturing, Support, for Professional, and Responsive, Inclusive Education. It was introduced by Education, Consulting, Academic Advising and Mentoring (ECAAM) in Dominica and SKOS Catholic Education Foundation.

The project will help schools understand and support students with special needs. Educators will receive training to recognize diverse needs of students and learn new methods which encourage more student participation in the classroom.

During the two-year pilot, educators will be trained with new learning methods and styles to support the needs of each student. School managers and parents will also take part in training sessions and workshops.

Six schools in St Maarten will participate in this two-year educational project. These include Sister Regina Primary School, St Dominic Primary School, St Dominic High School, St Joseph Catholic School of Education, Sister Borgia Elementary School, and St Maarten Seventh Day Adventist School.

It will also increase collaboration between Dominica and St Maarten. Both countries will work together to promote more comprehensive education across the Caribbean region.

ECAAM’s participation in the two-year pilot project will also give a Dominican educational group an important role in their efforts to improve special needs support within the St Maarten school system.

Various organizations from St Maarten are supporting this initiative like Winair, Windward Island Bank, Artmenia Events Planning, Accessible Ventures, and The Hope-Ros Family.

Education Consulting, Academic Advising and Mentoring (ECAAM) is an organization that helps students learn through using personalized academic assistance, professional growth, mentoring, and innovative education.

Through programmes such as its Summer Intensive Academic Support Programmes, ECAAM offers educational opportunities that are designed to meet different student needs while ensuring that everybody has equal opportunity to learn.
