Land preparation support has reached two farmers and one enterprise under the FAO-backed programme, with more beneficiaries set to receive assistance.
Dominica: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy has shared that it is currently continuing its implementation of land preparation activities under the Technical Cooperation Programme (TPC) as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen agricultural production in the country.
The project, "Improving livelihoods through diversified high-value vegetables crop production in selected agroclimatic zones," is under the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and focuses on improving land management and farm establishment.
On Thursday, July 2, the Ministry updated the citizens of the current progress, informing that land preparation assistance has been provided to two local farmers and one enterprise.
It further noted that more farmers have already been identified and are set to also benefit from the programme in the coming weeks.
To date, land preparation assistance has been provided to Julian Theophille, Dianne Joseph, and Bloombox Farms. Additional farmers have been identified and are scheduled to receive similar support in the coming weeks as programme implementation continues, announced the Ministry.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced the continuation of the land preparation activities and the next phase of the programme on Facebook, underscoring its role in supporting farmers and improving agricultural output. On its post, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the agricultural sector and strengthening food security in Dominica.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the initiative is executed through a strategic collaboration between Lead Consultant and Agronomist Brent Symes alongside the Cuban Technical Mission in Dominica.
