Dominica Extends Condolences to Venezuela After Earthquakes | Dominica News

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit expressed solidarity with Venezuela and offered Dominica’s support following the devastating earthquakes.

Dominica: The Government of Dominica has extended its condolences to the Government and people of Venezuela, following the devastating double earthquakes which have destroyed many homes, businesses and lives. The twin earthquakes, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, struck the country on Tuesday, June 24, 2026, and severely impacted Caracas and northern Venezuela, resulting in more than 160 deaths and hundreds of injuries.

The following day, June 25, Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit released an official public statement, extending sincere condolences to its neighbour and expressing solidarity during this difficult time.

“I am saddened by the reports of destruction and loss of life following the two powerful earthquakes that struck Caracas, Venezuela yesterday. The government and people of Dominica extend sincere condolences to the families affected and express our solidarity with the government and the people of Venezuela during this difficult time,” shared Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.

He called Venezuela is a “friend” and, pledging Dominica’s support and reaffirming its readiness to assist the people of Venezuela through the aftermath of this disaster, the National Leader declared that the Government of Dominica is on standby and prepared to provide support where possible.

Concluding his statement, Dr. Skerrit has also addressed the emergency and medical personnel by acknowledging their tireless work. He also extended his best wishes to the country as it begins its recovery period.

“We also acknowledge the efforts of the emergency personnel responding to this tragedy and wish the nation courage and strength in the days ahead,” noted the Minister.

Skerrit shared this statement on his Facebook page, where many citizens have taken to the comment section to also express their solidarity and extend their condolences to everyone affected by these tragic earthquakes.

A user under Rose Williams commented, “My deepest condolences to the people of Venezuela may the good God be with them in this difficult time.”
