Farmers, fishers and agro-processors from several North-East communities gathered at the North East Comprehensive School for a government-led consultation aimed

Dominica: The Government of Dominica continued with its efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector as it plans another farmer’s consultation with farmers, fishers and agro-processors from the North-East agriculture region.

The Government of Dominica planned a farmer’s consultation session on 11th March 2026, inviting all farmers, fishers and agro-processors in the North-East agricultural region to strategise and create a sustainable industry for the country.  The consultation began at 3:30 p.m. and took place at the North East Comprehensive School.

In the previous month, the Government organised similar consultations with farmers in the East (February 4) and South-East (February 11). These consultations have been a major success as the Government engaged with the farmers, fishers, and agro-processors and got to discuss upcoming projects and different opportunities that are available in their sector.

The consultations are hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy, as it continues its outreach across the country. Like the previous consultation, the discussion will be led by officials from the Ministry, Dominica Export Import Agency (DEXIA) and AID Bank.

The agenda remains the same; the officials engaged with all participants and share their insights on how to advance the industry. Discussions highlighted the Government’s agricultural policy measures, ongoing initiatives and future projects, as well as available opportunities for the farmers, fisherfolk and agro-processors.

The Ministry has shared that the invitation is extended to villages in Concord, Marigot, Wesley, Woodforhill and Calibishie.

From Concord, the communities include Deux Branches, Stone Field, Lotbore, Wind Blow and Number Six. Moreover, within Marigot, participants are invited from Craupud Hall, Myshal, Tantam, Barrau, Morne George, Captain Bruce, New Castle, Valley, Cayen Buc, Sunderlea, Melville Hall, Coffee and Londonderry.

The consultation also included stakeholders from Wesley (Sympa, Goat Ridge, Lacore, Joe Burton), Woodfordhill (Mango Gutter, Constant Spring, Morne Ramier, Newland, Turtle Point) and Calibishie (Middle Ridge, Fourchette, Savane Paille, Jno. Baptiste Ridge, Bense, Anse-de-Mai).
