Dominica: The National Junior Championship is scheduled to take place this weekend, featuring U-15, U-18 and U-20 categories, with the cost set at $1 per event.
The Dominica Athletics Association (DAA) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting and nurturing young talent in Dominica, as it plans to host a National Junior Championship this Sunday to strengthen the sport in the country and give the youth a stage to build confidence.
Yesterday, the Athletics Association announced that it will be hosting a competition for the juniors in Dominica, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents and skills.
The National Junior Championship will take place at the Geneva Playing Field in Grand Bay this Sunday, April 19, 2026, with the event scheduled to commence from 9:30 a.m.
The Athletics Association has shared that the juniors will compete in different events as the competition will feature categories for under –15, under – 18, under –20 and open participants. Moreover, each event will be charged at $1.
The young athletes will participate in different track and field events, including sprints (100m, 200m, etc), and various relays, including 4x100m and 4x400m. Other field disciplines will also be featured, including jumping events such as the long jump and throwing events like the javelin and many more.
The DAA has shared this announcement on its official Facebook page, inviting the athletes to attend and showcase their skills on the field.

In its post, the Association captioned, “Future stars, this is your stage! The National Junior Championship is here, where talent meets opportunity, and champions rise! Come out and represent, compete, and shine for Dominica.”
Dominica Athletics Association has also invited the citizens to show up at the tournament and observe the young athletes in their element. The Championship is sponsored by DNL, Niagara Bottling and Pinehill.
