Young entrepreneurs pitched ideas, connected with mentors and explored funding opportunities at the Southern Zone Opportunities Youth Business Forum in Dominica
Dominica: The Government of Dominica has successfully hosted the Southern Zone Opportunities Youth Business Forum as part of its greater efforts to expand economic opportunities and support the growth of local businesses in the country. The youth forum took place in Jungle Bay Dominica and was primarily organised by the Parliamentary Representative for the Soufriere Constituency and Minister of Tourism, Denise Charles-Pemberton.
This business forum had brought together different aspiring entrepreneurs, and business owners from the community who were given the opportunity to engage, pitch their ideas, learn and connect with experts who will mentor them.
The event was also attended by different Government officials, including Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit who was seen engaging with the business stakeholders.
In a Facebook post following the event, Prime Minister Skerrit shared picture highlights of the event. On his post, the Minister expressed the Government's commitment to supporting businesses across the island, stating that the Government of Dominica is prepared to help transform their ideas into reality.
"Our young people are turning their ideas into businesses, and we are committed to helping them succeed," declared Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.

The Prime Minister shared that he was pleased to attend the youth forum and to listen to the young entrepreneurs, assuring them that opportunities, mentorship and funding pathways will be created to support them.
"I was pleased to join young entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners at the Southern Zone Opportunities Youth Business Forum at Jungle Bay, Dominica. We are fostering an environment in which their ideas can grow through access to financing, training, mentorship and emerging opportunities across our economy," the Prime Minister stated.
Moreover, Skerrit praised the Parliamentary Representative of the Soufriere Constituency and Minister of Tourism, Denise Charles-Pemberton, for hosting the forum, noting its importance in empowering and equipping young people with the tools and opportunities needed to succeed in business.
He expressed, "I commend Hon. Denise Charles-Pemberton and the organisers for creating this important space for young people to connect with business leaders, financial institutions and Government agencies, and learn more about the support available to them."
Denise Charles-Pemberton also took to Facebook to share of the engagement with the aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners.
