Dominica updates petroleum prices from May 18, 2026, with reduced diesel and kerosene costs amid rising global oil prices.
Dominica: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy has issued an updated regulated price structure for petroleum products across the country, with Diesel and Kerosene seeing a decrease in their prices.
The official notice was shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, May 14, 2026, who has addressed it to the general manager of the country's main fuel supplier, PDV Caribe (Dominica) Limited, stating that the updated prices will take effect this coming Monday, May 18, 2026.
Starting Monday, Gasoline prices as calculated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy, and approved by the Cabinet have now been fixed at a wholesale price of $18.05 per gallon and a retail price of $19.05 per gallon.
The price for both High Sulphur Diesel (HSD) and Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) (retail and wholesale) has decreased since the last price update on May 5, 2026. HSD will be priced at $17.57 per gallon wholesale and $18.57 per gallon retail while ULSD will now cost $18.94 per gallon wholesale and $19.94 per gallon retail.
Moreover, Kerosene has also seen a price deduction, for each gallon of Kerosene, consumers will pay $16.19 per gallon wholesale and $16.67 per gallon retail.
During his press conference with members of the media on May 6, 2026, Prime Minister Skerrit reported an increase of more than 30 per cent in global crude oil prices since the start of the conflict on February 28, 2026, sharing that the prices for these petroleum products are bound to increase due to the ongoing conflict between the U.S-Isarael and Iran.
In order to support the citizens, PM Skerrit announced that the Government will lower the gas prices to about $1.50 to $2.00 if global oil prices keep increasing during May.
“To cushion the impact of rising fuel prices, government will be in a position to provide a subsidy of one dollar fifty cents to two dollars per gallon through reduced fuel taxes by the end of this month when the next cycle will come in price review, that is end of May 2026, should the prices keep increasing,” announced the Prime Minister.
Skerrit also assured the citizens that a monthly review of the prices will continue being conducted to protect consumers in the country.
