Dominica's six athletes will compete in athletics, boxing and swimming at the 2026 CAC Games in Santo Domingo alongside four officials.
Dominica: The Dominica Olympic Committee has announced that a 10-member delegation, comprising of 6 athletes and 4 officials competing in Athletics, Boxing, and Swimming, is currently representing the island at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The competition officially commenced with an opening ceremony which took place on Friday, July 24, 2026.
According to the Olympic Committee, the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games feature more than 6,000 athletes from 37 countries in the region who are competing across 40 sports and 56 disciplines.
From Dominica, Athlete Seif Elshekh will participate in the 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle and 400m freestyle while Malk Elshekh contests in the 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke.
The country will also be represented by Mariah Toussaint and Jeriah Lewis who will both compete in the long jump, as well as boxers Ali Shillingford and Darnell Cassell who will compete in the 80kg and 65kg boxing division.
Team Dominica is accompanied by officials Jason Robin, who will oversee swimming; Julian Jackson, who will accompany the boxing team; and Charles Joseph, who will serve as the athletics official.
President of the Dominica Olympic Committee, Billy Doctrove, released a statement ahead of the regional games, sharing that the team is full of promise. He noted that this is the youngest team to ever represent the country during his tenure, with 5 of the athletes making their debut this year.
“This delegation is the youngest CAC Games team of my tenure, yet we are optimistic about their potential and believe these Games will be a defining moment in their sporting careers. For five of the six athletes, this will be their first experience at a multi-sport Games, making the opportunity especially important to their growth and development,” announced Billy Doctrove.
Despite other senior athletes being absent from the competition due to scheduling conflicts with other major competitions, the President has expressed confidence in the selected team and its ability to represent the country on the regional tournament.
“Nevertheless, we remain confident in the talent, determination, and national pride of this team, and we wish all athletes, coaches, and officials every success at the 2026 CAC Games,” stated the President.
The 2026 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games are scheduled to conclude on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
