The 2026/2027 National Netball League has officially begun, with young athletes taking to the court in competitive opening matches at Windsor Park Sports Stadiu
Dominica: The 2026/2027 National Netball League tipped off yesterday with competitive matches for the young athletes.
On Sunday, March 29, 2026, the Dominica Netball Association (DNA) officially launched the 2026/2027 National League, marking the start of a new season for skill, teamwork and intense competition between the players.
The 2026/2027 season was launched at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium (WPSS), where the Netball Association held an opening ceremony as tradition. From 3:30 p.m., the girls’ teams took to the court where they began the hunt for the national title with thrilling matches.
The 2026/2027 League is being sponsored by Digicel Dominica, the Dominica Olympic Committee, Josephine Gabriel & Company and Big Edge Financial Express.
At the opening ceremony, the President of the Dominica Netball Association, Korlita Hamilton, welcomed all the teams that are participating, urging them to view the competitions as a platform to not only demonstrate their abilities but also to promote the sport in Dominica.
“This league is more than just competition; it is a platform for you, athletes, to showcase your skills, demonstrate discipline and position yourselves for national selection. It also plays a vital role in strengthening the visibility and continued growth of Netball in our country,” stated the Association’s President.
The Netball Association shared a live stream of the launching ceremony and the matches on Facebook, where a lot of fans and supporters were seen watching and sending uplifting messages to their teams.
Many were impressed by the team’s performances, praising the girls for their level of skill and their dedication to the game.
Noting the team’s performances, Veronica Rock Lorenzen shared, “It’s nice to see Netball on the rise again in Dominica.”
Another Facebook user under Diane James also commented, “The start of the season has finally begun! Looking forward to seeing my team win this year. Let’s go Spartans!”
