Dominica nominated for two World Travel Awards | Dominica News DM

Nominated as the Caribbean’s Leading Nature and Adventure Tourism Destination, Dominica’s natural beauty and activities draw global travellers.

Dominica: The two nominations—Caribbean’s Leading Nature Destination and Caribbean’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination—are a testament to Dominica’s strength in offering nature and adventure tourism experiences.

Earlier today, the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) announced that the Nature Island has received two World Travel Awards nominations. These nominations reflect strength in the island’s tourism sector when it comes to attracting both regional and international tourists, as well as the island’s ability to compete with other top destinations in the region.

Dominica has been nominated as the Caribbean’s Leading Nature Destination and the Caribbean’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination, both of which recognise the country’s natural beauty and its diverse set of outdoor and adventure activities that have been appealing to travellers for many years now.

The country’s tourism industry has seen significant growth as each year passes. In February this year, the Minister of Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives, Denise Charles-Pemberton, reported that a total of 488,091 passengers arrived in Dominica in 2025, which was a 13 per cent increase over 2024 and a 49 per cent increase compared to 2019.

This figure alone is a direct measure of the Nature Island’s appeal internationally, signifying that the two nominations are a result of all the efforts the country continues to make to establish Dominica as a premier destination.

The Discover Dominica Authority shared this monumental announcement on its official Facebook page, where it has encouraged the citizens and travellers to vote for Dominica. “Let’s show the world what makes Dominica special,” captioned the DDA.

Votes can be cast through the World Travel Awards voting portal at https://www.worldtravelawards.com/vote. For the Caribbean, the voting process will close on June 19, 2026, at midnight (United Kingdom time).

Reading this announcement, a few have taken to the comment section to share their experiences travelling and touring in Dominica, describing it as a “beautiful island with inclusive activities for anyone.” They have also spoken of the rainforests, waterfalls, biodiversity as well as the hiking, diving, and whale watching experiences.
