Parents and guardians can access free birth registration assistance throughout July at the Department of Social Services in Roseau.
Dominica: The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services has announced that it has rolled out a free birth registration assistance initiative for the month of July to help and encourage parents and guardians to register their child’s birth. This initiative is part of the Ministry’s greater efforts to ensure that every child is legally registered and can access their rights and services.
The Ministry shared this announcement on Friday, July 3, 2026, on social media, informing the citizens that the Department of Social Services will be undertaking this registration assistance for the entire month.
The Department of Social Services is offering FREE birth registration assistance throughout the month of July 2026 to help parents and guardians register the births of their children, announced the Ministry of Health.
Parents and guardians can access the free registration services by visiting the Department of Social Services (former Tonge Refrigeration building across from ACS) at 19–21 King George V Street in Roseau.
To facilitate this programme, the Department of Social Services has asked parents and guardians to present the birth certificate(s) of the parent(s), the child's health book, and any other supporting documents, where applicable.
The Health Ministry underscored the importance of getting a child registered by declaring that, “every child deserves a legal identity, a name, and the opportunity to access the services and rights they are entitled to,” and urged the citizens to take advantage of this opportunity.
Encouraging parents and guardians, it went on to stress, “Don't wait. Register your child's birth today! Our team is here to guide and support you every step of the way. Visit the Department of Social Services during regular office hours throughout July.”
The Health Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting families through accessible services. Taking to the comment section on the Ministry’s Facebook post, the citizens have expressed their opinions, sharing that they appreciate the initiative and that it will help make the entire process smoother.
