Dominica recorded 112,195 stay-over visitors and 375,646 cruise passengers in 2025 as the government works to expand air access and tourism benefits.

Dominica: Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit outlined the growth of Dominica’s tourism industry, noting that increased visitor arrivals and improved air access will create more opportunities for the benefit of local businesses and workers.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, PM Skerrit shared figures showing that Dominica received more stay-over tourists in 2025 compared to any other year and had its best-ever cruise season in the last 15 years.

“Dominica is recording significant growth in tourism, with record stay-over arrivals last year and the strongest cruise season in fifteen years,” read the post.

He said that the aim is to ensure that the benefits of tourism reach local businesses and Dominicans earning a living from the industry.

According to official statistics, Dominica had a total of 112,195 stay-over tourists in 2025 including yacht passengers, marking an increase of 18 per cent compared to the previous year. Cruise passenger arrivals reached 375,646, an increase of 12 per cent as compared to 2024, and the highest number since 2011.

To support further growth, the government is making efforts to improve the island’s air connections. PM Skerrit said that American Airlines is planning to introduce a larger aircraft to support its Dominica route, which will provide additional passenger capacity.

This will also be accompanied by an Open Skies Agreement with the United States to make travel between the countries easier.

“Efforts to improve air access continue, with American Airlines preparing to introduce a larger aircraft and an Open Skies Agreement with the United States targeted for completion by year’s end,” said PM Skerrit.

Prime Minister Skerrit further emphasized that better accessibility to the island would bring more business from customers for the local firms and opportunities for Dominicans who work in the tourism sector.

“Greater access means more opportunities for our businesses and more Dominicans earning a living from tourism,” he added in the Facebook post.

He said that the government of Dominica is focusing on turning the rise in visitor numbers into wider economic benefits for communities across the country.
