Dominica schools crowned basketball champions | Dominica News

Convent High School and Dominica State College secured U-20 basketball titles in Dominica’s 2026 secondary school championships.

Dominica: The Dominica Sports Division has announced the winners for the male and female U-20 divisions of the Sports Division Secondary Schools Basketball Final, which took place at the Windsor Park Forecourt on Friday, May 8, 2026. Both Convent High School and the Dominica State College claimed the titles in their respective divisions. 

In the 2026 Sports Division Secondary Schools Basketball Championships, Convent High School (CHS) defeated the Dominica State College (DSC) in the U-20 Girls Basketball Competition, making history by winning their first-ever basketball championship. CHS won by a 47 – 39 score difference, with Delicia Julien netting 16 points and being awarded the MVP of the final, while Amelia Bruno added 14 points and Saidi Walsh contributed 13 points.  

For the DSC, both Natalia Daway and Akeelah Daisy scored 7 points, Kenya John secured 6 points and Nyabel Pacquette added 5 points for the team.  

On the boy’s tournament (the U-20 Boys Basketball), the Dominica State College won over Pierre Charles Secondary School with a score difference of 63-37, defending their championship title from the previous year. The scorers for DSC were Shermon Casimir (16pts), Zachary Julien and Dinari Dyer (12pts each) and Joshua Paul (10pts). Moreover, Dinari Dyer was named as the MVP.  

Scoring for Pierre Charles Secondary School were Milton Thomas (12pts) and Kaylan George (12 pts).  

The sports division has also announced St. John’s Primary as the back-to-back Champions in the National Bank of Dominica Sports Division Primary Schools Girls Football Competition. St. John’s Primary played against Sineku Primary in their final match on Thursday, May 7, 2026, where won with a 5 – 1 goal difference.  

Moreover, North East Comprehensive School are the champions of the Secondary Schools Under 14 Netball Championship. They competed with girls of the Portsmouth Secondary School and won by 18 – 15.
