Dominica: Dominica is all set to organize its National Cultural Gala on Sunday, November 1, 2026 in the Botanic Gardens located in the capital city of Roseau, Dominica. The National Cultural Gala is a part of the country’s 48 th independence celebrations with the theme “Our Journey, Our Legacy, Our Future”.

The National Cultural Gala starts at 3:00 pm in the afternoon organized at the Botanic Gardens showcasing the island’s rich cultural heritage through its traditional dance, music, food and cultural folklores and fables.

Country’s top bands like Jing Ping accordion bands perform in the National gala by using traditional Caribbean music instruments like bamboo, boom- boom and shak - shaks creating the original authentic creole traditional tunes and rhythms.

Moving ahead with the cultural gala, showcasing the traditional dances are dance tropes like Grand Bay performers specialized with skilful young talented dancers mastering in synchronized, complex historical folk dances which also includes African - rooted Bèlè also with the specialized colonial era Kwadril - also known as Quadrille.

A very sweet tradition that follows along throughout the National Cultural Gala is the local tradition of story-telling which comprises folklores and tell- a- tales which pass from one generation to another, from elder to their younger ones when grandparents tell about these folklores to their kids. This tradition also acts as a medium through which the elder generations pass their traditions, culture, customs and beliefs to their younger generations.

The most exciting part of the National Cultural Gala is the amazing local open - fire food stalls on which the local citizens and guests and visitors in Dominica look forward too. The food stalls feature Dominica’s traditional heritage food consisting of Callaloo soup, Crab Backs and Titiri Accras featuring on the open - fire food stalls.
