Dominica U-19 defeat St Vincent to retain Windwards title | Dominica News

Dominica’s U-19 cricket team secured back-to-back WINLOTT Windwards titles with a 22-run win over St Vincent and the Grenadines in the 2026 final.

Dominica: Dominica’s Under-19 Cricket Team has been crowned back-to-back champions of the 2026 WINLOTT Windwards Under-19 Cricket Tournament, winning by 22 runs against St. Vincent and the Grenadines.  

On Saturday, April 19, 2026, Dominica battled St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the final match to determine the victor of the 2026 Windwards Under-19 Cricket Tournament. After a competitive battle, the match ended with a score of 143 for team Dominica and 121 for team St. Vincent and the Grenadines.   

Earsinho Fontaine was the top scorer for Dominica, making 35 off 50 balls, while Aiden Buton contributed 25 from 43 deliveries. De Andre Dougan led the bowling attack with figures of 3 for 21, supported by Elran Glasgow, who took 2 for 19. 

The tournament ended with Dominica finishing in first place with 9 points (4 wins and 1 loss); St. Lucia coming in second place (3 wins and 1 defeat) with a total of 8 points; and St. Vincent and the Grenadines having 4 points (2 victories and 4 losses), falling in third place.  

According to reports, the game between Grenada and St. Lucia was called off due to the rain, which rendered the Geneva Playing Field unsuitable for play. This resulted in Grenada finishing the tournament with 2 points (1 victory, 1 no result and 4 defeats).  

Dominica Sports Division announced Dominica’s major victory on its official Facebook page, with a congratulatory message to the team players for their hard work.  

The Sports Division captioned, “Congratulations to the Boys on a job well done as they successfully defended the title that they won last year. Back-to-Back Champions!”

The young players' victory for Dominica has delighted the public, who have expressed their happiness in the comment section.
