Dominica waives birth certificate fees Dominica waives birth certificate fees Dominica waives birth certificate fees Dominica waives birth certificate fees Domi
Dominica: The Government of Dominica has announced a fee waiver for obtaining birth certificates during the ongoing voter confirmation period in the country. The waiver is now in force and will remain in effect until the end of the confirmation process on October 14, 2026.
On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, the Government of Dominica shared a press release, informing the general public that it has removed the fee for receiving a birth certificate during the voter confirmation process.
Before the fee waiver, the voters were charged EC $20 to acquire their physical copies from the Registry, something that hindered many from carrying on with the confirmation process due to the cost.
This measure was approved by members of the Cabinet during the weekly Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The birth certificate fee waiver was set to take effect immediately on the same day, with the waiver remaining in place until October 14, 2026, when the voter confirmation process will come to an end.
According to the Government, the fee waiver will help “to ensure that citizens can access the necessary documentation to participate fully in the process.”
This announcement follows a call made earlier by the opposition Senator Delbert Paris, who raised the issue, stating that the people are being burdened by a lot of costs, and this initiative will help relieve them of that burden.
I still want to lay on the table again the request that we should remove, for a temporary period, the $20 fee for applications for receiving birth certificates for individuals who want to confirm. In the same spirit of easing the burdens on Dominicans, making it easier for disadvantaged people to go and confirm, requested Senator Delbert Paris.
Eligible citizens can send their online applications for the birth certificates at https://eservices.gov.dm or do it in person at the Registry Division on Dame Eugenia Charles Boulevard, Roseau.
Citizens have been encouraged to register for the confirmation process and secure their voting rights.
