Dominica’s Jazz n’ Creole 2026 Draws Crowds, Boosts Economy | Dominica News

Dominica’s 2026 Jazz n’ Creole festival drew large crowds, boosted the economy, and celebrated Afro Elegance in Fort Shirley, Cabrits National Park.

Dominica: The Ministry of Tourism has announced the 2026 Jazz n’ Creole as a major success, stating that the event is continuously bringing a positive economic impact. This year’s Jazz n’ Creole saw a major turn up from different individuals, including Prime Minister Skerrit who noted that the event has brought many across the region and internationally to the island.  

The 15th edition of Jazz n’ Creole took place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, with this year’s theme being Afro Elegance. The event was held at Fort Shirley in Cabrits National Park, where people showed up with outfits featuring a variety of African prints and bold colours with different accents.  

Among the huge turn up from the citizens, the event was also attended by Government official including Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit and Minister of Housing Melissa Poponne-Skerrit.  

During an interview with the media, when asked what he thinks about this year’s event, the Prime Minister spoke of the long- standing influence that Jazz n’ Creole has and continues to have in Dominica.

He noted that the event has become a major attraction for both tourists and locals and has greatly impacted the economy in the north. He went on to say that Jazz n’ Creole 2026 as the most colourful compared to the previous ones, adding that it has “good spirit and good vibes.”  

Skerrit has commended the Ministry of Tourism and Dominica Festivals for organising a successful event, stating that he looks forward to the next one.  

The Ministry of Tourism has posted picture highlights on Facebook where it has thanked all who attended, including the sponsors, partners, artists, media and many more, stating that their support has played a role in creating an unforgettable celebration of music, culture and Dominican spirit.  

The next event has already been announced, with Jazz n’ Arts set for May 1st, 2027 and Jazz n’ Creole for May 2nd, 2027.
