Team Dominica arrives in Grenada with twelve elite athletes ready to compete for medals in track and field events at the 53rd CARIFTA Games.
Dominica: The team of athletes will participate in different track and field competitions at the 2026 CARIFTA Games, taking place at Kirani James Stadium in St. George’s, Grenada.
On Thursday, the Dominica Athletic Association announced that Team Dominica has arrived in Grenada to participate in the 53rd CARIFTA Games set to commence today, Saturday, April 4, to Monday, April 6, 2026.
The selected 12 athletes were seen training at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium in Grenada, where they used the session as an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the track and the different facilities before the games officially begin.
Representing Dominica, two boys, Keyoni Esprit and Delaine George, will go the distance in the U-17 100m, 200m and the 4 × 400m relay race. Alejandro Baron and Zaiden Cornelius will also participate in the 4 × 400m relay, while Omari Ceaser takes the U-17 300- meter race.
Female sprinter Akeisha Luke will run both the 100 and 800 meters in the U-20 division, while Sharifa Trocard runs both the 400 and 800 meters in the same division. Moreover, Kedella Victor will represent Dominica in the U-17 division as she competes in the 100m and 200m.
Apart from the sprinters, in the Boys U-20, Khumaar John-Baptist is set to compete in the Triple jump, Jamical Titre in Discus and Shot Put, Addison James in Javelin, and Jeriah Lewis in Long and Triple Jump. Zaiden Cornelius will also compete in the U-17 Javelin.

The Association shared that the team is confident in delivering outstanding performances during the competition and has urged the citizens to extend their support to the team in the coming days. It added that the schedule and ongoing updates will be posted on the official Facebook page.
Nationals have sent their well-wishes to the team, encouraging them to give their all and represent the nation with pride. Taking to the Dominica Athletics Association comment section, James David commented, “Good luck guys, get those medals and make us proud!”
