DOMLEC schedules possible power outages in Dominica | Dominica News

DOMLEC announces possible power outages on May 27, 2026, in Dominica due to Fond Cole generation unit repairs, with staggered interruption schedules.

Dominica: The Dominica Electricity Services Ltd. (DOMLEC) has announced that there will be a possibility of a power outage on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, due to a scheduled repair to one of the generation units in Fond Cole. The Electricity Services shared that repairs will be done and will cause an interruption to the electricity supply in different communities between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.  

DOMLEC has stated that the power outage will be cancelled if the unit is successfully repaired and capacity levels exceed demand. If not, then different communities will experience an interruption, with the timing varying for each. 

According to the information provided by DOMLEC, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., customers in Snug Corner, Bellevue Chopin, Morne Lofty, Pichelin, Geneva Housing Scheme, Berrekua, Grand Bay, Maranatha Square, Hagley, Stowe, Pointe Carib, Fond St. Jean, Bagatelle and Fab, will have their services interrupted.  

From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., there will be a forced outage for those in Pointe Michel, Soufriere, Soufriere Sulfur Spring, Brooklyn, Gallion, Scotts Head, Ravine Banan, Grand Coulibri, Powell, Montin and Tete Morne.  

Moreover, Portsmouth Central, Zicack, Lagoon, Sunshine Street, Cabrits, Belle Hall, Tan Tan, Guillete, Savanne Paille, Morne A'Louis, Clifton, Toucari, Cocoyer, Cottage, Capuchin will face a temporary loss of electricity between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.  

Another outage has been scheduled for Lower and Central Fond Colé, Lower and Central Morne Daniel, Canefield Industrial Estate, Cocoa Bottom, River Estate, Canefield Housing Scheme and Canefield Highway (between Old Mill Cultural Centre and beginning of Imperial Road). Residents in these areas will have no power from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  

The Electricity Services has informed the consumers that the interruption “is necessary for capacity management purposes,” and have extended its apologies for the inconvenience, urging the communities to remain patient during this period.  

DOMLEC has further shared that the times listed are only estimated times and that restoration of service can take be delayed further for safety or capacity reasons.
