Wesley farmer Dywany St. John will receive the CARICOM Young Farmer of the Year 2026 award at Caribbean Week of Agriculture in Jamaica.

Dominica: The country has received another outstanding regional honour as Dywany St. John of Wesley has been named the CARICOM Young Farmer of the Year 2026. The twenty-eight-year-old farmer was awarded the title following a selection process conducted by a panel of judges from the region.

According to the information provided by the Government of Dominica, the young farmer will formally receive his award in a few weeks at the opening ceremony of the Twentieth Caribbean Week of Agriculture (CWA). The event is set to take place in Trelawny, Jamaica, on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

Dywany has been a farmer for more than 12 years whilst also serving as a Police Constable at the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF). His interest in the agricultural sector was influenced by his father who was also an outstanding farmer.

He currently manages a diversified 15-acre farm, including four acres of plantain, three acres of root crops and eight acres of tree crops. In addition, St. John also raises cattle, goats, sheep and pigs.

The Government of Dominica has noted that the CARICOM award "recognises Mr. St. John’s level of production, diversification, innovation, environmental stewardship and contribution to agricultural development and regional food security."

The Government has also congratulated the farmer of the year on this achievement, noting that his dedication to the sector is paving a way and inspiring the coming generation.

"The Government of Dominica congratulates Mr. St. John on this significant regional honour. His success demonstrates the important contribution young farmers are making to national development and shows that agriculture can provide a viable and rewarding livelihood for Dominican youth."

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) has also shared its congratulatory message to the Police Constable.

Taking to Facebook, the Police Force wrote, "The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force extends heartfelt congratulations to Police Constable Dywany St. John of Wesley on being named CARICOM Young Farmer of the Year 2026. PC St. John’s dedication to both public service and agriculture is truly commendable and demonstrates the positive impact our officers continue to make beyond the badge. We salute you on this outstanding regional achievement and wish you continued success!"
