Dominican farmer Ephraim Elijah Roberts has been named OECS Young Farmer of 2026 for his work in agriculture, youth development and food security.
Dominica: A 29-year-old Dominican farmer of Castle Bruce, Ephraim Elijah Roberts, has been awarded OECS Young Farmer of the Year. Farmer Roberts received the award on September 3, 2026, during the OECS Youth and Women in Agriculture Symposium which took place in Grenada for a duration of three days.
Farmer Roberts has been involved in the agriculture sector from an early age and is a member of the National Association of Youth in Agriculture (NAYA), which promotes greater youth participation and leadership in agriculture.
Apart from raising different livestock, cultivating cash and root crops and being involved in apiculture, the 2026 farmer of the year educates the local youth in climate-smart, technology-driven farming practices.
Underscoring the importance of the award, the Government of Dominica took to Facebook, informing the citizens of this milestone and praising Roberts for inspiring the coming generation to embrace agriculture as a rewarding and sustainable career.
On its post, the Government wrote, Dominican farmer Ephraim Elijah Roberts has been named the recipient of the OECS Young Farmer Award, recognising his commitment to modern, diversified agriculture and his efforts to inspire a new generation of young people to enter the sector.
The Government has also extended its congratulations to the young farmer for his recognition across the region, commending him for his hard work and commitment to agriculture.

The Agriculture Symposium was hosted by the OECS Commission in collaboration with Grenada’s Ministry of Agriculture, Lands & Forestry.
