Dominica: The Government of Dominica has announced plans for a multi-purpose community centre for Gallion under the Soufriere development agenda. This announcement was made by Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, during a post-budget town hall meeting in Scotts Head.
Prime Minister Skerrit stated that he would return to the community in early September to share more details of the proposed project
For my dear friends in Gallion, I am going to come to Gallion sometime in early September to share with you the plans we have for the multi-purpose community centre for the community of Gallion and when you see that plan you'll be very excited and pleased about it, announced the Prime Minister.
In his address, the Prime Minister also outlined a few other development plans that the Government intends to undertake in the Soufriere constituency. He shared that the Government of Dominica will begin its investment with road works for the Sulphur Spring Road.
I'm giving you a commitment in Soufriere because they tell me that one of the major issues you have is the Sulphur Spring Road. So, we will start that Sulphur Road in Soufriere, said the Prime Minister.
Dr. Skerrit also announced that the lighting of the Pointe Michel playing field will be installed during the 2026/2027 fiscal year.
The National Leader reaffirmed the Government's commitment to supporting, investing and empowering the citizens of Dominica. He noted that all these steps taken by the Government to improve different facilities, roads, housing, etc., are aimed at uplifting the underprivileged and advancing the country towards a greater future for all.
It's costing money but it makes no sense for the Government to boast about how much money they have in the bank, and you cannot eat, and you cannot drink, and you have nowhere to sleep. A government is in place to help its people improve their lives, he shared.
