Goodwill Secondary School project in Dominica is set for November 2026 completion, featuring climate-resilient design and modern facilities to enhance education
Dominica: The Government of Dominica has shared that the Goodwill Secondary School Project is on track to be completed in November 2026. This announcement comes after Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit visited the site to assess the ongoing progress of the project.
Prime Minister Skerrit declared that the Government is pleased with the work’s progress so far and that he is looking forward to its completion. He informed the media that the school will come fully furnished and equipped and that the Government has taken many crucial elements into consideration, including the classroom sizes, labs, library, physical education, etc., with this transformation initiative.
Skerrit added that the construction of the school is designed to be climate-resilient, ensuring that it better withstands impacts of natural disasters.
This school, with its design and engineering, has taken into consideration our vision to build a resilient nation; and so, we ensure that this school can survive any catastrophic impact and students can continue school immediately after a natural disaster, stated the Prime Minister.
He further added, “The facility will serve as a Centre of Excellence for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), providing students with access to modern learning spaces and the knowledge and practical skills needed to drive Dominica's development.”

Dr. Skerrit has explained the importance of this project and went on to reaffirm the Government's commitment to advancing the education sector in Dominica by stating, “Having a conducive place for learning is priority number one for the Government and the Ministry of Education and this is why we have continuously made efforts to improve the physical structures and the learning centres across Dominica.”
The Goodwill Secondary School Project is one among the six projects (5 primary and 1 secondary) being undertaken by the Government of Dominica and the Government of China to reconstruct the country’s school infrastructure, transforming it into a modern, climate-resilient learning network for students. Similar transformations are being done at the Sineku Primary School, Calibishie Primary School, Thibaud Primary School, Tete Morne Primary School, and Bellevue Chopin Primary School.
Minister Skerrit reported that all the structures in the six schools are completed, and currently, internal works such as tiling, painting, etc., are taking place.
Dr. Skerrit has extended his gratitude to the Government of China for its support and commitment to advancing Dominica in various sectors.
