The Primary Health Care Team hosted a men's health clinic in Grand Fond, educating participants on andropause, prevention and early medical intervention.
Dominica: The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services has shared that the Primary Health Team from the La Plaine Health District organised a health clinic for the men in Grand Fond as part of its continued efforts to increase awareness on men’s sexual health and promote preventive healthcare.
The clinic was held on Saturday, July 26, with Nurse Baron, Nurse Sabrina Bernard, and Dr. Stedman facilitating the session.
Sessions focused on men’s sexual health, giving special attention to andropause (male menopause). The participants were informed on how to recognize symptoms and understand the changes it can bring. Moreover, the facilitators also addressed the importance of seeking timely medical advice and support.
According to the Ministry of Health, the sessions empowered men to take charge of their health through education, prevention, and early intervention.
These coordinated initiatives have been ongoing throughout the month of July, with the Ministry of Health aiming to share knowledge and make healthcare more accessible to the citizens across Dominica.
A similar clinic was also hosted earlier on July 7 at the Mahaut Health Centre under the theme "Get in a Pro-state of Mind: A Shift from Fear to Focus.” More than 30 participants were in attendance and gained valuable insight on the important connection between nutrition, prostate health, and sexual wellness.
Moreover, earlier on July 15, the Ministry shared that the Primary Health Team from the Roseau Health District had taken to the streets of Silver Lake, Louisville, Elmshall and Bath Estate to bring health education, screenings, consultations and preventive care to the communities.
Healthcare doesn't stop at the clinic door and neither do our healthcare professionals.
