Dominica Social Security Director Janice Jean-Jacques Thomas will receive a National Day Award on November 3, recognising her decades of service.
Dominica: Janice Jean Jacques Thomas, serving as the current Director of Dominica Social Security would be receiving a National Day Award on November 3,2026.
Roosevelt Skerrit , Prime Minister of Dominica in one of his addresses at the opening ceremony of 34th Meeting of Heads of CARICOM Social Security Organization announced that the Director of Dominica Social Security (DSS) would be awarded on National Day Awards , going to be held on November 3,2026.
The award and honour follows after a 46 years long career and service through which Janice Jean Jacques Thomas, worked for her country. Starting early in 1980, Janice Jean Jacques Thomas initially started as a junior clerk in May 1980 now holding an achievement for being the second longest actively working, participating and serving employee in the history of Dominica Social Security(DSS).
Working relentlessly hard through day and night, she got promoted from being a junior clerk to senior clerk in 1984 after which she rose through the ranks being promoted to executive director’s secretary in 1985 and then to being a personnel officer in 1990.
Her transition from personnel officer to administrative and managerial affairs came with being promoted to Manager of Administration for a brief period of 1992 to 1996 following which came the period wherein she managed the contributions department for three years starting from 1996 to 1999.
After this, she also served as an acting director in early 2005, following this she was shortly after appointed as Executive Director on December 1,2006 for which she is serving dedicatedly for the last 2 decades.
Serving her almost entire life for Dominica Social Security, she was appreciated and recognized earlier on the occasion of DSS 50th anniversary and now she would be honoured with National Day Award on November 3,2026 as announced by the Dominica PM as an ode to the excellence for the level of security, management and hospitality shown by her and the team of DSS when Dominica hosted the 34th Meeting of Heads of CARICOM Social Security Organizations.
