Entrepreneurs in Dominica’s Kalinago Territory can access grant support for agriculture, tourism, accommodation, culinary businesses, arts, crafts and more.
Dominica: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Blue and Green Economy has announced a new grant and business development initiative under the Strengthening Community Resilience in the Kalinago Territory (SCR-K) Project, which targets the entrepreneurs and small business in the Territory.
Being a collaborative effort between the Government of Dominica and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the initiative is funded by the Government of India and is part of the Government of Dominica’s wider efforts to strengthen economic resilience, support local businesses and promote sustainable livelihoods within the Kalinago Territory.
According to the shared information, the grant support will target a range of sectors, including agriculture and agro-processing, tourism and tour operations, accommodation and homestays, culinary and farm-to-table businesses, arts, craft and culture. Moreover, support will also be available for start-ups and small businesses, with a focus on strengthening business resilience.
To facilitate this initiative, the Government plans to host sessions and provide the necessary information to the interested individuals. Through these interactions, information will be shared on the eligibility criteria, the selection and support process, the opportunities for business development and technical assistance as well as guidance to help strengthen business ideas.
Consultation sessions for tourism and tourism-related enterprises are scheduled for Thursday, August 27, at 4 p.m. at KBA and on the following day, Friday, August 28, at 10 a.m., a consultation for agriculture and agro-processing will take place at the St. Cyr Resource Center. Sessions for small businesses and start-ups, as well as Kalinago NGOs, civil society organizations, non-profits and cooperatives, are still to be announced.
The Government has invited individuals to participate in the consultation sessions, encouraging the entrepreneurs to ask the necessary questions and share their ideas.
