Dominica: The Ministry of Agriculture toured the Tissue Culture Lab at the Dominica China Agricultural Science Complex and engaged with the Chinese Technical Mission staff, where the two had meaningful discussions in strengthening technical capacity and driving innovation in the country’s agricultural sector.

During the week, the Ministry of Agriculture conducted an informative visit to the Dominica China Agricultural Science Complex in One Mile, Portsmouth. During their visit, the Ministry’s administrative and technical staff toured the Tissue Culture Lab, where they got to experience the production process firsthand.

The real-time demonstrations of tissue culture operations allowed for an insightful and valuable experience as the team delved into the details of how the high-quality, disease-free planting material is produced.

Moreover, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, the team was also updated on the impressive progress that the Lab and Germplasm Units are making to achieve the targets outlined in the 2025–2026 Work Programme.

The Ministry shared that the discussions highlighted the medium- and long-term developmental goals, which will continue to position the high-tech facility as a centre for outstanding research and long-term development.

Taking to Facebook, the Ministry of Agriculture posted picture highlights of what took place during the lab visit on its official Facebook page yesterday, February 19, 2026. In their post, the Ministry captioned the visit “Advancing Agricultural Innovation Through Science & Collaboration.”

During this visit, the administration and technical staff also met with the Chinese Technical Mission Staff and the agricultural team from the Ministry assigned to the Science Complex. The Ministry shared that this visit helped to create direct and meaningful engagements as they work together to continue building a food-secure nation for the citizens of Dominica.

“Most importantly, the visit created a meaningful opportunity to engage directly with the dedicated Ministry of Agriculture assigned to the complex and the Chinese Technical Mission staff for visits and also work with various organisations and groups.” The Agricultural Ministry further added, “Together, we continue building a resilient, innovative, and food-secure nation!”
