Month-long programme will engage students across Dominica through school visits, sports clinics, and sessions promoting Olympic values.
Dominica: The Dominica Olympic Committee has officially launched its month-long Olympic Day School Outreach Programme with the aim of impacting the youth in the country by promoting Olympic values and exposing them to different professional options within the sports industry.
The Olympic Day School Outreach Programme will begin this week and run throughout the month of June as it targets different schools in Dominica. The programmes’ activities will include a mix of school visits, interactive sessions with the students and practical sports clinics.
This initiative is being delivered through partnership with the Ministry of Education, HR Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence and National Federations in Dominica, including the National Olympic Academy.
Together, we are using sport to educate, inspire, and empower the next generation of Dominicans, shared the Olympic Committee.
According to the Olympic Committee, students nationwide will learn the fundamental values of “Excellence, Respect and Friendship” as well as the many educational, health, leadership, and career opportunities that sports can provide.
The Committee has extended its gratitude to the Ministry of Education for their support and the participating schools, athletes, coaches, stating that they play a major role in empowering the young individuals in Dominica.
