More than 50 educators and sports professionals completed the OVEP Train-the-Trainer Workshop to promote Olympic values in Dominica's schools and communities.
Dominica: The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence has announced that more than 50 educators and sports professionals have participated in a three-day workshop, the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) Train-the-Trainer Workshop, to advance Olympic values in schools and communities.
The workshop took place from July 8 to July 10, 2026, and was a collaboration between the Ministry, the Dominica Olympic Committee, the International Olympic Committee, Panam Sports, and Olympic Solidarity.
According to the Education Ministry, teachers, physical education teachers, as well as Sports Division officers, and coaches from across Dominica are now equipped with “practical strategies to promote the Olympic values of Excellence, Respect, and Friendship through sport and physical activity.”
The participants engaged in interactive activities aimed at demonstrating how the said values can be taught to the learners through sport and everyday experiences. Upon the completion of the workshop, participants received certificates
Taking to Facebook, the Ministry shared this initiative, underscoring its importance in empowering educators and inspiring the future generation. It stated that it is pleased to be supporting the OVEP as it “strengthens the capacity of educators to foster positive character development, leadership, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles among students," stated the Ministry of Education.
The Dominica Olympic Committee also shared the event's highlights on Facebook, where it extended its gratitude to the Ministry and all partners who have played a major role in making it a success. The Committee also congratulated the participants and shared that it remains committed to initiatives that strengthen sports culture and education across Dominica.
