Dominica: The skilled workers will undergo intensive training and take part in a competition that showcases their skills. The training will explore practical and applicable solutions relevant to their field.

Dominica Electricity Services Limited (DOMLEC) has shared that more than 100 Lineworkers will gather in Dominica for the 2026 CARILEC Lineworkers Symposium and Rodeo.

Being a regional event, the CARILEC Lineworkers Symposium and Rodeo will gather line workers from across the Caribbean allowing them to explore practical solutions currently being used in the field. Moreover, the event will serve as a platform for the skilled professionals to share knowledge.

Scheduled for April 24 to April 2026, the three-day event is divided into two parts. First is the technical training and the second will be a high-energy competition that stimulates real-world field operations. The technical training will help the skilled professionals elevate the industry’s standards by familiarising them with new tools, technologies and safety practices.

The Lineworkers Rodeo will put the workers’ training into action through a series of technical challenges aimed at testing participants’ precision, speed, teamwork, and commitment to safety.

The Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) will host the Symposium and Rodeo will host the Symposium and Rodeo in partnership with Dominica Electricity Services Limited (DOMLEC).

Dr. Cletus Bertin, CARILEC’s Executive Director, shared the importance of the Lineworkers Symposium and Rodeo in strengthening safety practices across the Caribbean. He shared that the event ‘represents the very best of regional collaboration’. He also expressed the countries’ continued partnership in building a resilient and highly trained workforce to better serve the citizens.

Dr. Cletus Bertin added that hosting the event in the country will give the citizens of Dominica a chance to witness the lineworkers’ expertise and teamwork.

“Hosting this event in Dominica provides a valuable opportunity for the local community to see firsthand the expertise required to keep electricity systems operating safely and reliably, while also highlighting the important role utilities like DOMLEC play in powering regional development,” stated CARILEC’s Executive Director.

Members of the public have been invited to attend the Rodeo, which will take place at Benjamin’s Park.
