Roseau Enhancement Project enters implementation phase | Dominica News

Dominica begins implementation of Roseau Enhancement Project, upgrading seven key streets to improve traffic flow, safety and city infrastructure.

Dominica: The Government of Dominica has announced a major step in the Roseau Enhancement Project, sharing that it is now transitioning into its implementation phase. This announcement was made on Thursday, June 18, 2026, as the Government revealed that it held a meeting with the project consultants, utility companies and other key stakeholders during the week to prepare for the commencement of works.

The Roseau Enhancement Project is set to upgrade seven major streets in the island’s capital city, including Independence Street, Bath Road, Cork Street, Great George Street, Virgin Lane, River Street and King George V Street. These upgrades, upon completion, will improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety and drainage.

Just earlier in late April, the Government had announced that the project had been awarded a US$2.24 million consultancy contract for the design review and supervision of the rehabilitation works, with the contract going to Saudi Arabian Consulting Engineering Office (PACE) in association with Corisav Inc. of Dominica.

This announcement of the commencement of works is pivotal for both the Government and the citizens of Dominica, marking an official shift in momentum—from preparation to execution.

Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit has taken to Facebook to share this milestone with the general public, underscoring the importance of this step in modernising the city of Roseau, making it more resilient and pedestrian friendly.

“The rehabilitation of Independence Street, Bath Road, Cork Street, Great George Street, Virgin Lane, River Street and King George V Street forms part of Government’s ongoing efforts to modernize the capital, improve road infrastructure and create a safer, more pedestrian-friendly city,” shared Prime Minister Skerrit.

He went on to reaffirm the Government’s commitment to investing in initiatives that help to build a more resilient and accessible capital for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

In the comment section, the citizens have expressed their enthusiasm for the works to officially begin, anticipating the finished outcome.
