Seven streets in Roseau will be upgraded under a government plan to modernise the capital and improve pedestrian-friendly infrastructure.
Dominica: The Roseau Enhancement Project Phase 2 is moving ahead as the Government appoints a consultant for the design review and supervision of the rehabilitation of seven streets in Roseau City. Upon completion, the upgrades will improve traffic flow, pedestrian safety and drainage.
The Government has announced that seven streets in Roseau, including Independence Street, Bath Road, Cork Street, Great George Street, Virgin Lane, River Street and King George V Street, will receive major upgrades. This initiative forms part of the Government’s efforts to modernise the capital city, making it more resilient and pedestrian friendly.
According to reports, the consultancy contract has been awarded to Saudi Arabia Consulting Engineering Office called PACE and a local firm in Dominica known as Corisav Inc, with the contract valued at USD $2,246,264.
The rehabilitation works have been divided into 3 phases, with a 42 month-long consultancy. The first phase will run for 6 months with the focus being on reviewing designs and supporting the procurement of civil works.
The second phase will last for 24 months, dedicating that period to construction supervision of the road rehabilitation works. On the last phase, the firms will monitor and address any defects after the construction is completed. This phase will run for 12 months.
