Savanne Paille Primary School won three awards at Dominica’s National STEM Fair 2026 for its innovative hydroponics project.
Dominica: Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy and Parliamentary Representative for the Cottage Constituency, Roland Royer, has extended a heartfelt congratulatory message to the students and staff of Savanne Paille Primary School for their outstanding achievements in winning three awards at the National STEM Fair 2026.
The National STEM Fair 2026, under the theme “STEM at Work: Building Industry Capacity through Ideas,” was hosted by the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training, and National Excellence at the St. Alphonsus Parish Hall. The event took place on Friday, May 8, 2026, and gathered both primary and secondary students from across Dominica who presented their innovative projects.
The Savanne Paille Primary School’s project had focused on an innovative Hydroponics system, which demonstrated how modern agricultural technology can improve food production and build local industry capacity.
This project has awarded the primary school with the ‘Gold Award for Agriculture Project,’ honouring the student’s innovative works in Hydroponics. Along with the gold award, the school also won as the ‘Best Upper Primary Project and as the ‘Overall Winner for Primary Schools.’
In his official address, the Parliamentary Representative for the Cottage Constituency congratulated the students and staff for the exceptional sweep of top honours at the exhibition. He commended the students for their creativity and the confidence and eloquence as they presented the project to the judges.
“This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to the hard work, dedication, creativity, and teamwork displayed by our students. I commend them not only for the excellence of their project, but also for the confidence and eloquence with which they presented it. You have made the entire Cottage Constituency proud!” shared Parliamentary Representative Roland Royer.
Royer went on to praise the principal and teachers for guiding the young learners and nurturing their minds. He gave a special mention to Hubert Lee, for his “vision, leadership, and dedication in developing and coordinating this hydroponics project” adding that his efforts have “played a pivotal role in this success.”
Minister Royer has reaffirmed his commitment to the schools in the Cottage Constituency stating that he will continue supporting both the students and schools to continue building initiatives which will enhance the nation’s food security as well as empower future generations.
