Skerrit Congratulates PM Davis on Bahamas Election Victory | Dominica News

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit congratulated Philip Davis on his re-election victory in The Bahamas, praising his leadership and commitment.

Dominica: Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Philip Davis on his re-election as Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of Bahamas following the recent general election. The general elections were held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, with unofficial results indicating that the Bahamian Prime Minister and his ruling Progressive Liberal Party have won 33 out of 42 seats in the House of Assembly.  

With this re-election, Prime Minister Philip Davis has become the first leader to hold office for a consecutive term in nearly 30 years.  

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit shared his congratulatory message on behalf of the Government and citizens of Dominica, stating that his re-election is timely and a testament of the confidence the citizens of Bahamas have placed in him and his ability to lead the nation forward. Skerrit went on to wish the re-elected leader and the nation a progressive future.  

“I congratulate Prime Minister Philip Davis on his victory in general elections held in The Bahamas on Tuesday.  On behalf of the Government and people of Dominica, I convey best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of The Bahamas,” shared Prime Minister Skerrit.

Moreover, the Dominican Prime Minister has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to both advancing and strengthening its diplomatic relations with the Government of The Bahamas.  

“His re-election comes at an important time for our region, and I look forward to continued engagement and cooperation between our countries in pursuit of shared regional goals and sustainable development for our peoples,” added the National Leader.  

The citizens of Dominica have also joined their Prime Minister in congratulating Philip Davis on his historic win. A few individuals have left comments on PM Skerrit’s post, stating that the win is well-deserved.  

A user named Elian Francis commented, “Big up on the Bahamas people for staying focused on the progress.” 

Omari James also added, “When you’re doing the work, the people are going to put you right back inside. Congratulations PM Philip Davis.”
