Team Dominica has won eight medals at the 2026 Windward Islands School Games, with Khaarim John-Baptiste claiming gold in the boys' triple jump.
Dominica: The Dominica Sports Division has provided an update on Team Dominica’s performance at the 2026 Windward Islands School Games (WISG), which commenced last weekend on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in St. Lucia. According to the results announced by the Sports Division, the athletics team has delivered outstanding performances and secured 8 medals across different track and field events.
With a standout performance in the Boy’s Triple Jump, Khaarim John-Baptiste has earned the team’s sole gold medal at the regional competition so far. John-Baptiste secured first place with an impressive leap of 14.55 metres, showcasing the island’s strength in field events.
Akiesha Luke added two silver medals to Team Dominica’s tally, finishing second in both the Girl’s 400 metres with a time of 58.81 and in the 800 metres race in 2:23.41. Akiesha also competed in the 4x400 metres relay race, along with her teammates Dalia, Chasity and Shanice, where the team crossed the finish line in a time of 4:08.33, winning silver.
Finishing third in the Girl’s 1,500 metres, Shanice Frank won bronze recording a time of 5:22.11. Jeriah Lewis also earned bronze with a leap of 6.90 metres in the Boy’s Long Jump.
The Sports Division further updated that Team Dominica added two more bronze medals in both the Boys and Girl's 4x100 metres relay events. The girl’s relay team, consisting of Kedella, Chasity, Akiesha, and Leanna clocked at 51.02, while the boys' quartet of Keshun, Keyoni, Chris and Reuel clocked at 44.44.
The Division has shared these individual performances and other updates on Facebook where it has congratulated the athletes for their performances, stating that they have “represented Dominica with pride, passion and purpose.”
